FAROE Online Conference on the occasion of Int. Refugee Day 2025
Will be held on June 23, 2025, from 18:00 to 21 hours.
From Reluctancy of Admission to Expulsion policies
Dear Sir/Madame,
On June the 23rd 2025, an online conference will be held on International Refugee Day. Main issue under discussion in this conference will be the restrictions that European and regional governments have imposed on their asylum policies and the impact of these restrictions on Afghan refugees. Our particular emphasis will be on the policies of the European Union, Sweden, United Kingdom, Pakistan, Iran, and Turkey. Additionally, the social-economic and security situation of 3,4 Afghan refugees deported since 2023 from regional countries will be discussed.
The Federation of Afghan Resident Organizations in Europe (FAROE) has been organizing European conferences in different EU member States since its foundation in October 2000. The summer conference of 2025, is due to the deteriorating situation of Afghan refugees, dedicated to International Day of Refugees.
Afghanistan, as it stands today, is a product of failed policies, wars and military invasions by World superpowers from the Cold War era until now. Regional powers such as Pakistan and Iran have profited from a weak Afghanistan and tried to keep Afghanistan in conflict and instability as long as possible. All involved countries should accept their responsibilities and at least protect Afghan refugees until Afghanistan is liberated by its own people. But the real situation is the opposite. Iran, Pakistan and Turky, continue the policy of expelling Afghans on a large scale without minding about alarming humanitarian and human rights crisis in Afghanistan. Many women and men who are wanted by the Taliban government because they worked for NATO member states or institutions funded by them are left behind in a state of confusion after waiting years for bureaucratic process of granting visa and being evacuated to Europe and the United States, with the evacuation process halted or suspended by at least the United States and Germany. The situation of individuals reaching the European Union member states illegally is not better. The number of rejected Afghans in many EU member States is growing fast in 2025. Governments of these countries are waiting for an opportunity to expel rejected Afghan refugees, are paving the way for their expulsion of by starting interaction with the tyrannic and anti-women government of Taliban.
In the conference of 23rd of June 2025, we will discuss these issues and try to contribute in solutions by making recommendations to all relevant players.
FAROE invites all persons and organizations interested in the subject of this conference to join us on the 23rd of June, from 18:00 hours central European time on Zoom. The link of the conference will be available on our website(www.afghanfederation.com).
